Ehlers-Danlos Awareness Month- A poem by Jenny Tate Birmingham HMSA Group Leader.

Zebra2

Trapped

Trapped, trapped, I’m trapped inside.
This body of constant lies.
It tells me I can, then it tells me I can’t.
A never-ending fight.

The fight inside that never dies.
It’s written in my eyes.
But only those who feel the fight
can see and hear the cries.

My plight is invisible to those without sight.
Carried within, my battle to win.
Yet win it, I won’t.  The hope is to cope.
That’s what they don’t see,
the blinded by light.

But the darkness, you see,
is what brings out the dreams,
of the better days that we may yet see.
Just always remember, the scene that you see
may not be all that it seems.
