Hilton HotelThe HMSA is pleased to announce its 2014 Conference, from Friday evening 25th- to Sunday afternoon 27th July, at the Hilton, St Georges Park, Burton-Upon-Trent, home of the National Football Centre.

The theme is ‘keep active’. The programme will include practical talks from experts, activities including use of hydrotherapy facilities, advice sessions with therapists, and of course time for relaxation and socializing with members, staff, and advisors.

All delegates with confirmed bookings have been contacted by email (8 June 2014) with the following information which we have copied here in the event that for any reason our email has not come through (please check your spam/junk folders):

Dear Delegate,

Please find the attached Adults Programme for the ‘Move, Pace and Stay Active’ Residential Weekend and Patient Conference.

Formal registration starts at 5pm, 25th July 2014, in the Sir Bobby Robson lobby.

HMSA staff and volunteers will be there at this time to meet and greet you. You will be able to pick up your delegate pack and badge and have a look around the venue.

Dinner that evening is at 6.30pm in the Sir Bobby Robson Ballroom. If your dietary needs have changed since you have booked please do let us know and we will do our very best to accommodate.

At 8pm Dr. Jane Simmonds and Ms. Donna Wicks will hold a short information talk in the Sir Bobby Robson (section 4 area) on what the children will be up to in their programmes and to answer any questions children or parents may have.

Delegates can look at the attached programme now and pre-book what they would like to attend by emailing the office or sending in a letter. Priority will be to HMSA members and those delegates who have paid in full.

Please note that all children’s hydrotherapy is already part of their own programme, so you will not be able to book a session for your child. Please bring their swimming suits. Adults can of course pre-book a hydrotherapy session but it is limited to 1 session per person due to demand.

With the 1-1 Advice Clinics please do note that we are offering this opportunity for the first time but there are restrictions which are unavoidable. No physical examinations will be permitted and whilst we will try to give delegates some privacy, the advisors will be using one room together. The advisors will be spaced out in this large room but we cannot guarantee confidentiality. Please speak with Ms. Donna Wicks if this will cause a problem for you and she will do her best to accommodate your needs.

The charity retains the right to make adaptations to the programmes and activities if the need arises. We will do our best to accommodate everyone’s needs.

In addition to the programme, we have a ‘Market Stall’ area, in the Sir Bobby Robson Lobby, where you can meet some organisations who can provide you with information and sell you goods such as aids and adaptations. There is also the usual HMSA stall, and Hannah Ensor will be present with her Stickman goodies. Ms. Isobel Knight will also be on hand to sell her books and to take orders. There is much more happening in this area and it looks like it will be very busy.
We are also showcasing the research work we have been involved in over the last 2 years. You will be able to view all the research posters and meet May To, Researcher from Charings Cross who has directly benefited from your participation. Medical advisors who have been involved with the research will also be available if you have any questions.

The HMSA also has a Volunteer One Stop Shop area where you can talk to Abigail Patrick, Volunteer and Research Coordinator, and Catherine Eves, National Group Coordinator about how you can help the HMSA with its work.

The Market Stall Area, research posters and the HMSA Volunteer One Stop Shop will be open during breaks in the programmes.

The HMSA Party on Saturday night is available to residential delegates only. Day Delegates can purchase a ticket to the Party from the HMSA office. Delegates can wear whatever they feel most comfortable in…including zebra onesies if they so desire!

We think we have most of your information needs covered but this is your weekend and we want you to have a good time so if you think of something you would like please let us know.

Please submit your Adults Programme pre-booking form as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. The Children’s Programme pre-booking form will be sent to all parents next weekend as we are finalising details.

Yours sincerely,

Donna Wicks

(CEO)

PLEASE NOTE

Attendance at the Residential Weekend is by advance booking only. This information is for delegates whose booking at this year’s Residential Weekend has been confirmed. If you have submitted your booking but have not heard from us please click here to contact Donna Wicks for confirmation. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept new bookings as we have reached capacity despite doubling the venue size!

If you have received confirmation of your booking but have not received the information above please click here to contact Jen Patchett who will be happy to resend the email and an Adults Programme pre-booking form.

Due to a known spam filter issue we have received reports that some of our emails are being incorrectly marked as spam – therefore please check your spam and junk email folders before contacting us. Due to the high volume of emails we receive each day in relation to the Residential Weekend please allow 3-5 working days for a reply. Many thanks.
