“I chose to fundraise for the HMSA and set up the silver zebra project after being diagnosed with Joint Hypermobility Syndrome. I found the HMSA a great resource and a great place to speak to others who knew how I was feeling. As many know, the zebra is the mascot for us ‘bendies’ and the hypermobility community as a whole, and I wanted to include that in every item I made and sold. It is a great way to get people talking and to raise much needed awareness!”
Abi Willshee – Scentsy Products – 20% of the sale is donated back to the HMSA, when ‘HMSA’ is used as a reference. Facebook Link
“I love having a clean, fresh house and I fell in love with a popular brand of scented candles. However I could only have them on for a couple of hours in the day because of inquisitive animals and children. I then realised how dangerous they were with my own clumsiness which is part and parcel of my Classical Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. The amount of times I dropped one, knocked one over, or burnt myself became a joke. In desperation I then tried air freshener plug-ins but all that really gave me was a headache. A chance search on Google led me to Scentsy, and I fell in love with their warmers and wax. Scentsy is different. With a low wax melt temperature there is no chance of burning yourself, a child or an animal. Scentsy is a safer alternative and the large range of wax bars mean there is a scent perfect for everyone. The range of warmers and waxes are completely awesome! I couldn’t get enough of the product so I became an independent Scentsy Consultant in 2014. This gave me the opportunity to have lots of great products in my home and allow me to order more when I needed them. It has also allowed me the opportunity to share my love for Scentsy with my family and friends who have become as much a fan as I am!”
“As the HMSA sales coordinator I have decided to combine my two favourite things, and so for every sale through my Scentsy shop or via my Facebook page I will donate 20% of the sale total to the HMSA. I often have something exciting going on within my Scentsy business so please add my page on Facebook – https://www.facebook.com/zebrastripescents, and drop me a message if you would like to learn more. “We set up The Studio in 2014 combining our creative and design skills. We are now a well established business, producing personalised gifts, printed products and clothing that can be personalised with wording or imagery. We’ve been lucky enough to produce products for individuals and companies of all sizes and we pride ourselves on the quality of our products and our great customer service. Our shop is based in the village of Pontyclun, South Wales where we produce all of our products on site, we also have a website that allows our customers to choose whether to order in person or online.
I have suffered from the negative effects of Joint Hypermobility Syndrome (JHS) since early childhood, I now use a powered wheelchair to get around safely and function successfully on a daily basis. I first joined the HMSA in 2011/12 and found the help and advice that was available at the time to be invaluable to help me receive the correct medical care. Our children also suffer from pain and other associated symptoms as a result of JHS and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome to varying degrees. We all have a ‘there’s always a solution’ attitude towards any obstacles we face, joke that being stubborn is also a part of JHS, and never stop fighting to make our lives better.
We felt that it was time for us to give something back. We felt that the best way that we could help support the HMSA is to donate a portion of sales both in store and through our website (when you opt to donate a portion of your purchase at the online checkout or by showing us your membership card in store). We hope that you will help us support the HMSA so that they can continue to help all of us every day.”
Anna Fairhead – Annica Wheatbags – Anna’s products are listed in the HMSA SHOP, with 10% being donated by the HMSA.
“We first became aware of the HMSA when one of your members purchased a wheat bag from us at the Woking Hospice Christmas Fair in 2015. She explained about hypermobility and subsequently contacted us praising our product and asking if we would like to be involved in helping the charity in some way. The HMSA is hugely supportive of their members, promoting positive self management. Our wheat bags complement this idea as they are a wonderful way of helping to achieve a natural, drug-free solution to pain relief – particularly for joint and ligament pain and muscle fatigue.
We are a small family business run by sisters Anna and Erica, dedicated to producing high quality wheat bags for either hot or cold therapeutic purposes. As we are both therapists, we have combined our knowledge, and also our names, to create a wide range of hand crafted products specifically designed to offer you a safe and reliable way to relieve pain naturally.
Anna’s family have grown wheat for generations on their farm on the South Suffolk border, and small amounts of this high quality product is now saved each year to form the natural heart of our luxury Annica Wheatbags. Being a very experienced seamstress, Erica enjoys sewing each and every wheat bag to the very high standard that our product requires. At the start of spring, we both spend many happy hours sourcing our new season fabrics to bring you the latest most vibrant, stunning colours.
